The resort of Gundogan is 18km from Bodrum and is a fishing village that has kept it`s traditional feel, yet has everything you would need at hand for an enjoyable relaxing holiday. The temperature in Gundogan can range between 14°-18° in winter and 25°-35° during the summer months and has a beautiful stretch of sandy beach, which is divided by the harbour and has a number of jetties that stretch out from the shores.
There are restaurants and cafes spread along the waterfront, where you can find all kinds of international foods on offer, as well as wonderful local cuisine. The nightlife in Gundogan is fairly quiet, consisting of a meal and a few drinks, whilst watching the sun disappear, where the sky meets the shimmering horizon. The few waterfront stalls will sell bric-a-brac and souvenirs, such as sea sponges, but if you wish to make a day of shopping then a trip to Bodrum will find you in a shoppers paradise. From the beach in Gundogan you will be able to book up for a number of watersports. There are public shuttle services that you can jump on to get around.

As the sun goes down in Gundogan the perfect evening can be enjoyed chilling out at one of the waterfront restaurants with a cold drink and trying out the local `meze` dishes, such as `imam bayildi`, onion, tomato and aubergine, `cobon salatasi`, a pepper, onion, tomato, parsley and cucumber salad, or the lovely `antep ezmesi`, which is a hot chilli mash.

Some of the many watersports available in Gundogan include parasailing, jet-skiing, water skiing, banana boat rides and scuba diving.
Historical Excursions
Not far from Gundogan you will find some interesting historical sites. Perhaps the most enthralling is the extensive set of caverns encrusted with stalagmites and stalactites - one of the caves has been identified as an early human settlement replete with Bronze Age ceramics, milling stones and axe heads. Across the bay on Big Rabbit Island you'll find the remains of a 9th-century AD Byzantine monastic settlement while on the far side of the Yalikavak road an old Ottoman tower pokes out above the lush pine canopy.
