The main holiday resort of Hammamet was developed in the 1970s and is known as the St Tropez of Tunisia, being the most popular tourist resort of the country. It is south of the Cap Bon peninsula and can boast having some of the best beaches in the country. These stretch the length of Hammamet and on to the area known as Yasmine Hammamet 6 miles to the south.
Overlooking the beautiful clear waters of the Gulf of Hammamet, it attracts a mixture of Tunisians and Europeans and is popular for family holidays. The charming Medina is the place to wander the Souks looking for bargains and haggling over prices. Hammamet offers the best nightlife in the country with the best nightclubs located in hotels south of the centre and there are many restaurants where you can choose from local or international cuisine.

Great Beaches
Hammamet has some of the best beaches in the country. Both north and south of the town has lovely stretches, interspersed with private hotel beaches. The fine sand is perfect for relaxing and topping up your suntan.
Traditional Shopping
The Souks (markets and bazaars), found in the Medina (old city), are filled with vibrant colours and a mixture of bargains to be bought. From vases, carpets, lamps bracelets, hand carved wood and much more.
Great Water Sports
With an abundance of water sports on offer in Hammamet there is something for everyone. The colourful local boats are on hand to take you along the coast on fishing trips as well as glass bottom boats and diving centres. Also available are pedalos, water skiing, jet skis, wind surfing and paragliding.
Great for Families
For younger children there is the Flipper Aquapark, in Hammamet, with plenty of slides and pools as well as Carthageland, which is a theme park, in Yasmine Hammamet, whilst the wonderful sandy beaches, sloping gently into the clear sea, are great for paddling.
