Situated directly east of Murcia, south of Alicante on the coast, Torrevieja is popular with families and couples alike, attracted by the great beaches and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The temperature can range between 17-21° out of season and up to 31° during the summer months.
Torrevieja is well known for the two salt water lagoons that surround it, the largest in Europe, attracting many different bird species, including flamingos. Along this stretch of coastline the gorgeous sandy beaches, including Playa Naufragos, Playa del Acequion, Playa de Cura and Playa los Locos, are excellent for sunbathing and swimming. The restaurants, bars and cafes serve local, traditional cuisine and international dishes to suit all tastes. The bars in Torreviejo are good for enjoying a few drinks in the evening, but it is not known as a lively resort.
