Canico is located 10km east of Funchal, at the end of a steep road that winds for a mile down to Canico da Baixo on the coast. The weather in Canico, Madeira can reach the 20`s in the winter and up to the late 20`s during the summer months.
Golfing, walking and water sports are popular in and around Canico which offers stunning scenery and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Just to the east of Canico there is a small pebble beach where you can try your hand at a number of water sports. Canico nightlife is relatively low key with most of the entertainment hotel based, although there are some excellent restaurants up in the village serving local and international cuisine. The same goes when it comes to shopping, with a few shops dotted around Canico, but if you take the bus to Funchal you will find an excellent selection.
