Located on the northeast coast of the island, 3 miles north of Faliraki and 4 miles south of Rhodes Town, is the delightful resort of Kalithea with a good selection of sand and shingle beaches. It is popular with both families and couples alike and a good base from where to explore the surrounding area and resorts. The temperature off season can range between 15-21° and during the summer 25-30°, great for sunbathing on the beaches and cooling off in the crystal clear, calm sea.
There are a number of restaurants in Kalithea, offering a good choice of traditional, local cuisine as well as international dishes and there are a few bars, and a disco, to keep you entertained in the evening. If you are looking to step out of the relaxed vibe in Kalithea and party through the night, then head into Faliraki or Rhodes Town. These can both be reached by a cheap taxi ride or even on foot. There is a large supermarket on the edge of Kalithea and a number of small shops, and the short journey to Rhodes Town will find you spoilt for choice when it comes to shops, boutiques and markets.

Take a day trip to Rhodes Town`s walled city, the 14th century Palace of the Grand Masters and the Mosque of Suleiman in the Turkish Quarter. Climb up Monte Smith to see the ancient Acropolis remains and the Temple of Apollo and marvel at the incredible views.

Boat trips to the beautiful island of Symi and even day trips to Turkey are popular from Kalithea. A fantastic day out is to the water park in Faliraki, one of the biggest in Europe. |
