Located on the north coast of Crete, 3 miles from Hersonissos, is Malia, the party capital of the island. Here you can dance until dawn, then sleep it off on the beach during the day, before starting again the following night. The beach in Malia is one of the best on the island, consisting of golden sand stretching for miles, dotted with sun beds and umbrellas and offering a number of water sports.
The temperature in Malia can range from 14-21° off season and 24-30° in the summer months, perfect for topping up your tan and cooling off in the warm water. When it comes to eating out, Malia has all tastes covered, from Mexican, Indian, Chinese, fast food outlets selling burgers and chips, to British pubs offering all day breakfasts and fish and chips suppers. The local tavernas offer exquisite, traditional Geek cuisine which comes highly recommended. After a day on the beach most holiday makers head to `the strip`, leading down to the seafront, full of bars and music to get into the party mood.
