Heraklion is located on the north coast of Crete and provides a great base from where to explore the island. A large resort consisting of wonderful Venetian buildings, churches, squares and fountains, Heraklion is home to plenty of tavernas, bars and restaurants serving traditional, Greek cuisine and international dishes to suit everyone`s tastes.
The temperature out of season can range between 14-21°, while during the summer months a glorious 25-31°, perfect for topping up your tan on one of the lovely beaches nearby, such as Amoudara, Kokini Hani and Gouves. There are plenty of shops in Heraklion, a town steeped in history, with narrow streets and cafes waiting to be explored. A great regular bus service is available to head out on some day trips and boat tours depart from the harbour.
