The small Island of La Gomera is reached by taking a ferry from Los Christianos, which departs multiple times a day. It has a population of 20,000 and is a popular destination for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. The ferry crossing route is home to whales and dolphins and La Gomera itself full of exotic plants and many species of birds and animals.
Other than the islands natural assets are a number of small fishing villages which still maintain very old and original popular customs. Playa de Santiago is a pretty fishing-village with a fine beach and clear water. At Valle Gran Rey and Vallehermoso you can find one of the island's best beaches. There is only one hotel on the island and that is The Parador de la Gomera, perfect for honeymooners and couples in ideal romantic settings, offering views of the ocean and the spectacular scenery of the volcanic island. There are a small numbers of villas that are available to rent on the island, if you'd like a little more independence and privacy. The weather here is warmed by the Gulf Stream and cooled by the winds, with a climate that is mild all year round making it the perfect destination for a villa holiday at any time of the year.
