Located on the north-west coast of Menorca, next to Cala`n blanes, lies the beautiful medieval port of Ciudadela, with it`s charming narrow, cobbled streets leading away from the picturesque harbour. Once the capital of Menorca, Ciudadela is now a vibrant city filled with historical architecture, having retained it`s Spanish traditions.
The lovely sandy beach of Cala`n Blanes is just 2 miles south, while just to the north you will find Binimel-la, which boasts the best beaches on Menorca. The Ciudadela weather can range between 13-19° out of season and up to 30° during the summer months.
When it comes to eating, Ciudadela is well known for it`s great choice and variety of restaurants. Whether you fancy international cuisine to suit all tastes, freshly caught, fish dishes or delicious Spanish local delights, Ciudadela has the lot.
Nightlife in Ciudadela is mainly based around the lovely harbour, with bars and restaurants offering a friendly vibe, as do the Spanish tapas bars in the centre, making a pleasant evening. A couple of late night discos and jazz clubs will keep you going until the early hours.
On the edge of Ciudadela you will find a selection of excellent shoe shops, whilst along the twisting narrow streets the tiny shops sell locally made goods, such as leather wares, jewellery and pottery.
